How to Find Your Perfect Belt Size
Getting the right belt size is easy once you know what to measure. Follow the steps below and use our size chart to find your fit.
Step 1: Measure Your Waist (Where You Wear Your Belt)
- Wrap a soft measuring tape around your body at the point where you wear your pants — not your natural waist.
- Keep the tape snug but not tight. You should be able to slip one finger underneath.
- Note the measurement in inches. This is your pant waist size.
No measuring tape? Use a piece of string, then measure the string against a ruler.
Step 2: Measure an Existing Belt (Optional)
If you already have a belt that fits well, measure it for a quick reference:
- Lay the belt flat on a table.
- Measure from the buckle pin hole (the one you use most) to the end of the leather where it meets the buckle.
- This measurement is your belt size.
Waist-to-Belt Size Chart
Our belts are sized 2 inches larger than your pant waist — this accounts for the extra length needed to thread through belt loops and buckle comfortably.

Example: If your pant waist is 34", order a 36" belt.
Choosing the Right Belt Width
Belt width should match your belt loops and the occasion. Here's a quick guide:

Tip: When in doubt, check the width of your current belt loops before ordering. A belt that's too wide won't thread through properly.

Welcome to Hide & Hem. All our belts are hand made locally in New Jersey USA.
These are 100% Bull hide leather belts with Double row grommets 1 1/2" wide that will last a long time without splitting or cracking. We use heavy 8/9 oz. weight leather with heavy Steel Antique Brass roller buckles and grommets.
Belt size is where you buckle up and then it has 6 to 10 plus inches long tail depending on the belt size.
Please Note : When ordering a belt, please order one size bigger than your waist, which would be 2" bigger than your waist.
i.e. For 34 waist order 36 size belt or for 42 waist order 44 size belt.
